Nice to meet you in XR! – Efthimahos

The characters living in the XR at the Foundation of Hellenic World

We would like to introduce you to the characters that animate the XR experience developed by BRIDGES at the Foundation of the Hellenic World. These are Avatars and Non-Player Characters (NPCs).

While avatars are virtual characters who lend their likenesses to visitors so that they can interact with each other and with objects in extended reality, NPCs are virtual characters who are not being played by the visitors, but are useful to enrich the environment and to make it more realistic.

After introducing Ergochares and Periktione, it’s the turn of Efthimahοs (NPC), the new role model of a democratic citizen.

Imagine teaching history using avatars and NPCs. We would have the most passionate students of history ever.

#3rd meeting:

Efthimahοs (NPC), and the new role model of a democratic citizen

BRIDGES project: Non-Player Character n°3 - EfthimachοsI’m the only son of the house and represent the new role model of a democratic citizen. I am 23 years old. My body is athletic, the result of the athletic exercises done while I was attending the Gymnasium. I mostly look like my father, with my rich black hair, and my suntanned face thoroughly shaved.

I entrusted my education to the sophist Hippias, my father’s close friend, and I completed my military service in the Attican countryside. I was too young to participate in the battle of Mantineia in 418 B.C., but now I look forward to being glorified in the name of Athens and under the orders of Alcibiades. Since the previous phases of the Peloponnesian War, I have kept the confidence of the Athenians, contrary to my father, who had second thoughts because of the city’s suffering.

The more logical my father finds the policy of the experienced general Nikias, the more attractive I find Alcibiades’ rush, the soul of the most powerful city in Greece. Despite our political disputes, my father remains very proud of me. It’s time for me to serve Athens.
